QatarEnergy Strikes Landmark Helium Deal with China

20-year supply agreement with G-gas strengthens global helium trade

In a latest news article in Oil & Gas Middle East, QatarEnergy has signed a historic 20-year sales and purchase agreement (SPA) with Guangzhou Guanggang Gases & Energy Co. Ltd (G-gas) to supply 100 million cubic feet of helium annually to China. This marks Qatar’s first direct long-term helium supply deal with China, reinforcing its position as a global helium leader.

Strengthening Qatar’s Helium Market
The agreement was formalized at QatarEnergy’s headquarters in Doha, attended by His Excellency Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi, Minister of State for Energy Affairs and President & CEO of QatarEnergy, along with senior executives from both companies.

H.E. Al-Kaabi emphasized the importance of the deal, stating, “China is a key market for Qatari helium, and this partnership with G-gas further strengthens our global reach. With our North Field LNG expansion, our helium capacity will more than double, supporting critical industries worldwide.”
